The people at Good Housekeeping magazine know a thing or two about quality products. When it comes to family SUVs, the magazine’s automotive experts have found some of the most family-friendly vehicles on the market for 2022.

Compact SUVs and subcompact family SUVs are all the rage right now, which is why there are four options on the Good Housekeeping listing. The 2022 Mazda CX-30 tops the list of best subcompact SUVs. The CX-30 has room for five, seven trim level options and a combined fuel economy of 26 mpg. Plus, it has a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and it’s an IIHS Top Safety Pick+.

The 2022 BMW X2 stood out from the crowd for a luxury subcompact SUV option. The X2 has five seats and three trim levels to choose from. Good Housekeeping says it’s a “driver-centric vehicle, featuring easily accessible and responsive controls, and a highly adjustable driver’s seat and steering wheel placement.” People love BMW’s driving style and the X2 doesn’t stray from that goal.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV also gets a combined fuel economy of 26 mpg. Mazda offered this SUV eight trim levels, which means buyers have several options to choose from.
