Disney Guests Say Housekeeping Had ‘No Privacy Concerns’
While staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, Guests enjoy excellent housekeeping and guest service throughout their stay. Also known as “Mousekeeping,” the housekeeping team is there to bring clean towels, replace linens, and restock toiletries throughout your stay.
If you plan to stay in your room longer than usual in the morning, or if you return early from the parks, you can place a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door, letting housekeeping know that the room is currently occupied.

On a recent trip, a Disney guest had a “not so magical” experience with Disney housekeeping. While staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, the guest and family were disturbed by housekeeping on several occasions.
“Even though we had our privacy tag on the door, the housekeeping staff still knocked and insisted on coming for a ‘facility inspection’ to make sure the lights and such were working,” the guest by Disney Explain. “They woke my daughter up twice doing this which was embarrassing,” they continued.

The Disney guest went on to explain how the household “turned on the lights while she (their daughter) was sleeping.” “They didn’t seem to care whether they woke her up or not,” they explained.
“I understand they reserve the right to do so, but it’s like they don’t care about our privacy,” they added.
Not only did this guest experience what he felt was constant disruption, but he also felt that housekeeping was not doing their job as efficiently as they should have. The guest added, “Even though they interrupted our privacy almost daily, housekeeping didn’t bother to collect/replace towels. We ended up with a huge pile of them on the bathroom floor on our last day.

It is unfortunate that Cast Members continued to monitor these guests even with their “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, however, we would like to note that Disney Cast Members are required to do facility inspections.

Before your arrival
Your room will be thoroughly cleaned, with particular attention to:
- High-touch areas, like TV remotes and doorknobs
- The floors, which will be steam cleaned and vacuumed between guests
During your stay
Your room will receive light housekeeping service every other day (unless you choose to decline the service). This service will include:
- Removal of trash cans and used towels
- Replenishment of towels and amenities in room and bathroom
- Wiping and cleaning vanity and counter surfaces
- Vacuum, if necessary
- In addition, housekeeping tools will be cleaned between rooms.
